This is for a bread machine and makes a 2 1/2 pound loaf of bread. (Note: there’s a possibility I stole a large part of this recipe from a family member).
Active Yeast packet
1 3/4 cups of hot water
4 1/2 cups of whole wheat flour
1 tablespoon of sugar (plus a pinch)
1 tablespoon of salt
1/3 cup of olive oil
1/3 cup of honey or molasses
Get a small bowl and dump the entire package of yeast and a pinch of sugar in. Mix with the water and a fork until well blended. Set aside for 30 minutes.
Meanwhile, mix all remaining ingredients in a large bowl until blended. Add in water and yeast mixture, and mix well. It’s possible you may need to kneed the dough with your hands until everything mixes well. The dough should be smooth without being too sticky. Add to your bread machine, and run the wheat bread cycle.
